Mehrere deutsche Jagdflugzeuge attackierten das Flugzeug an und trafen das Cockpit direkt. Der Copilot war sofort tot. Eine Tragfläche fing Feuer und die Maschine sackte über die Flugzeugnase ab. Kurz darauf explodierte sie in der Luft. Ein Großteil der Besatzung starb. Es gab nur drei Überlebende.
