- Das Flugzeug befand sich wenige Minuten vor dem Zielgebiet (Steyr), als eine Rakete eines deutschen Jagdflugzeugs die linke Tragfläche traf und auf Höhe des ersten Triebwerks abtrennte. Das Flugzeug ging sofort zu Boden. Sieben Crewmitglieder konnten sich retten bzw. wurden aus dem Flugzeug geschleudert. Sie wurden bei Großraming aufgegriffen und gingen in Gefangenschaft. Der Pilot (Zuidema) war schwer verletzt, ihm musste im Lazarett ein Bein amputiert werden.
