- Über dem Zielgebiet (Györ), unmittelbar nach dem Bombenabwurf, wurde das Flugzeug von deutschen Jägern attackiert. Ein Geschoss explodierte im Funkraum und verletzte drei Besatzungsmitglieder. Der hintere Bereich des Flugzeuges wurde beinahe abgeschossen und ein Triebwerk geriet in Brand. Der Pilot konnte das Flugzeug nicht mehr halten und gab den Befehl zum Notausstieg. Die gesamte Besatzung sprang ab und geriet in Gefangenschaft. Dabei wurde der Co-Pilot ermordet.
