- Das Flugzeug hatte schon beim Zielanflug Schwierigkeiten mit den Motoren und fiel deutlich hinter die Bomber-Formation zurück. Über dem Ziel wurde es dann von fünf deutschen Jagdfliegern attackiert. Das 3. Triebwerk begann zu brennen und das Flugzeug ging in den Sturzflug über. Nur ein Besatzungsmitglied überlebte.
