- Die Maschine wurde über Korneuburg von Flakgeschossen im zweiten Triebwerk getroffen. Das Flugzeug wich vom Kurs ab, der Pilot konnte die B-24J jedoch wieder stabilisieren. Ein Teil der Besatzung sprang ab, ehe die Maschine in der Luft explodierte. Einzelne Crewmitglieder wurden durch die Explosion ins Freie geschleudert.
