Die Maschine wurde über dem Ziel von Flak getroffen - die Tragflächen gingen daraufhin in Flammen auf. Das Flugzeug ging kurz darauf in einen Sturzflug über und explodierte schließlich in der Luft. Nur vier Besatzungsmitglieder überlebten.
