Die Maschine wurde von Flakgeschossen an zwei Triebwerken getroffen, die stark zu qualmen begannen. Der Pilot verließ die Formation in Richtung Jugoslawien. Der Besatzung gelang es - bis auf Shleman - die Maschine zu verlassen. Resler verletzte sich beim Absprung schwer. Er wurde im Lazarett in Lienz notoperiert, starb jedoch am 2. Dezember 1944 im Beisein seiner Crew.
