- Die Maschine wurde über Linz von mehreren Flakgeschossen getroffen, die das Flugzeug schließlich in Flammen aufgehen ließen. Kurz nachdem sich die ersten Fallschirme gelöst hatten, sackte die Maschine ab, ging in einen spiralförmigen Sturzflug über, verlor beide Flügel und explodierte schließlich in der Luft. Teile des Bombers kamen rund um Schwertberg (bei Winden und Joseftal) zu Boden. Drei Leichname, die nahe der Absturzstelle aufgefunden wurden, wurden in Schwertberg bestattet.
