Die Maschine wurde in der Flugzeugnase von einem Flakgeschoss getroffen. Dabei wurde der Bombardier schwer verletzt. Acht Besatzungsmitglieder sprangen ab. Der Bombenschütze blieb wegen der schweren Verletzungen im Flugzeug - wie auch der Navigator, der ihm beistehen wollte. Beide überlebten die folgende Bruchlandung.
