- Deutsche Jagdflugzeuge griffen die Maschine an. Da das Flugzeug hinter die Formation zurückfiel und verlor zunehmend an Höhe. Die Besatzung versuchte aus diesem Grund Ballast abzuwerfen. Da dies nicht gelang und auch Angriffe der Jagdflugzeuge weiter gegen die Maschine geflogen wurden, sprang die Besatzung schließlich ab.
