Die Maschine erlitt einen Flaktreffer in das zweite Triebwerk, das sofort in Flammen aufging. Das Flugzeug brach aus der Formation aus und steuerte in Richtung Boden. Die Maschine explodierte schließlich in der Luft. Die Deutsche Luftwaffe fand später drei verbrannte Leichname im Flugzeugwrack, die nicht mehr identifiziert werden konnten.
