Das Flugzeug wurde über Wien von Flak-Geschossen getroffen und geriet dabei aus der Flugbahn. Ein zweiter Bomber (42-52319) kollidierte mit dem Heck. Das Flugzeug zerfiel und stürzte in Trümmern zu Boden. Es gab nur einen Überlebenden.
