- Auf dem Weg zum Zielgebiet wurde das Flugzeug von deutsche Jägern attackiert. Ein Triebwerk wurde getroffen und begann zu rauchen. Die Maschine fiel langsam hinter die Formation zurück und glitt zu Boden. Ein Großteil der Besatzung konnte sich retten. Nur zwei Crewmitglieder konnten nicht abspringen und starben im Flugzeug.
