- Das Flugzeug wurde von Flakgeschossen getroffen, wodurch eines der Triebwerke ausfiel. Langsam fiel das Flugzeug hinter die Formation zurück. Über Kroatien begann ein Triebwerk zu brennen und das Flugzeug war nicht mehr zu halten. Beinahe die gesamte Besatzung, bis auf drei Offiziere sprang ab. Der Bomber, begleitete von P-38s ging dann zu Boden, wobei dem Piloten eine Notlandung am Boden gelang. Die drei noch im Flugzeug befindlichen Crewmitglieder wurden gefangen genommen. Der Rest der Crew konnte sich in die Wälder flüchten und wurde nach einem Monat nach Italien zurückgeflogen.
