- Rund 20 deutsche Jagdflieger attackierten den Bomberverband über dem Zielgebiet Bad Vöslau. Das Flugzeug wurde schwer getroffen, fiel hinter die Formation zurück und wurde weiter beschossen. Ein Treffer auf Höhe des Cockpits riss den Co-Piloten ins Freie. Im Inneren brachen Brände aus, die sich rasch ausdehnten. Fünf Besatzungsmitglieder waren durch die Flammen gefangen und überlebten nicht. Der Rest der Besatzung sprang ab. Das Flugzeug war im Vollbrand, als es am Boden aufschlug.
