Die Maschine wurde von Flakgeschossen getroffen und verlor langsam an Höhe. Ein Teil der Besatzung konnte zu diesem Zeitpunkt abspringen, ehe die Maschine in einen spiralförmigen Sturzflug überging und drei Besatzungsmitglieder in den Tod riss. Das Flugzeug schlug am Boden auf und explodierte.
