Die Maschine wurde über Wien von Flakgeschossen getroffen, die die gesamte linke Seite in Flammen aufgehen ließen. Das Flugzeug stürzte sofort ab - Einzelteile brachen dabei ab und das Flugzeug explodierte schlussendlich in der Luft. Nur ein Teil der Besatzung konnte sich retten.
