- Die Maschine wurde über dem Ziel von deutschen Jagdflugzeugen angegriffen, die zwei der Triebwerke in Brand schossen. Einige Crewmitglieder versuchten sich mittels Fallschirm aus der Maschine zu retten. Diese flog vorerst weiter, sackt jedoch bald aus der Formation ab. Nun versuchten weitere Besatzungsmitglieder abzuspringen, ehe die Maschine ins Trudeln kam und schließlich in mehrere Teile zerbrach und brennend am Boden aufschlug.
