- Die Maschine erhielt über Wien einen Direkttreffer in den Bombenschacht, der sofort in Flammen aufging. Kurze Zeit später explodierte die B-24J in der Luft. Nur zwei Besatzungsmitglieder überlebten die Explosion, sie wurden dabei aus dem Flugzeug geschleudert.
