- Das Flugzeug wurde von Jägern so schwer getroffen, dass ein Triebwerk und danach der gesamte rückwärtige Teil der Maschine in Brand gerieten. Das Flugzeug flog zunächst stabil weiter und verlor nur langsam an Höhe. Dies konnte ein Teil der Besatzung nutzen, um abzuspringen. Die Maschine stürzte unmittelbar danach zu Boden und explodierte knapp vor dem Aufschlag. Einzelne Besatzungsmitglieder waren ohne Fallschirm aus dem Flugzeug gefallen.
