Etymology (borrowing): source language Classical Greek+ Cf. LSJ ὅριον

For ὃριον cf. Sophocles 217: ‘limit, boundary’; for μεθόριος, -ν Liddell / Scott: 1091 „lying between as a boundary“. AC I: 283; Levy I: 47, Levy III: 110. The reading of Vat 2 is attested in LevR 28,4. Jastrow II: 780: μεσθόρια [?!] „borders, frontline“. In GenR only in combination with בית 〈byt〉 „house“, probably with the same meaning.
