Generally: public representative of Roman citizen in foreign land (Sokoloff SL, 6). According to Sperber אגדיקוס שבמדינה in GenR is a translation of lat. defensor civitatis. Sperber suggests that אגריקוס (in GenR Ox 1 and 2) might be influenced by Gr. ἄγροικος, countrydweller.
